The Malaysian Association of Clinical Biochemists (MACB) is offering a limited number of scholarships for eligible applicants enrolling in the Professional Certificate in Chemical Pathology Laboratory Data Analysis, a 6-month hybrid programme offered by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) through UKMShape. Developed in collaboration with MACB, this course is designed for laboratory professionals looking to strengthen their understanding of pathophysiology and biochemical data interpretation in relation to disease. Emphasising clinical application, laboratory management, and accurate data reporting, the programme supports better diagnostic practices and patient care.
To be considered for the MACB Scholarship, applicants must have at least five years of working experience in a clinical biochemistry or chemical pathology laboratory, with active involvement in diagnostic services. They must also be active MACB members for a minimum of three consecutive years at the time of application. Applicants who have contributed to MACB activities—such as serving as a committee member, speaker, abstract presenter, or event volunteer—will be given priority. A letter of support from the Head of Department or direct supervisor is required, outlining the applicant’s current role, the relevance of the training to their responsibilities, and the potential impact on patient care or laboratory service quality.
Applicants must also submit a personal statement (maximum 300 words) explaining why they want to join the course, how it supports their current role and future plans, how they intend to apply the knowledge in their workplace, and how they plan to contribute back to MACB—such as through knowledge-sharing or volunteering. After completing the course, recipients must submit a brief report within one month and be willing to share their key takeaways through MACB platforms like CPD webinars, posters, or newsletter articles.
