MACB Webinar 2026: Latest Guidelines on the Measurement and Reporting of Lipids and Lipoproteins

Details

The session has the objective of providing actionable best practices for accurate lipid/lipoprotein testing and reporting, minimizing errors that impact patient diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment decisions. This session also touching the significant pre-analytical factors (e.g., fasting status, posture, recent illness) that can impact result accuracy and the strengths and limitations of different analytical techniques. The methodologies used to measure key analytes, including total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C (calculated and direct), triglycerides, and emerging markers like apolipoprotein B (apoB) and lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] will also be discussed.

Attendees will gain insights into:

  • Fundamentals: The rationale for measuring specific lipids/lipoproteins and their clinical significance.
  • Methodology: Common analytical approaches, their accuracy, and potential interferences.
  • Pre-Analytical Vigilance: How sample collection and patient preparation influence results.
  • Reporting Standards: reference interval, flagging for abnormal result
  • Quality & Standardization: The role of harmonization in reporting to ensure reliable results.

This presentation is essential for laboratory professionals, clinicians, researchers, and anyone involved in lipid testing or utilizing lipid profiles for patient management. It aims to bridge the gap between laboratory measurement and effective clinical decision-making, ensuring lipid results are accurate, reliably reported, and optimally interpreted to guide patient care and reduce cardiovascular risk.

  • Time : 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm (Asia/Kuala_Lumpur)
